Hi all here we have a very famous samba called pumpkin. Owned by Tim Randell of the cult two piece group called Druids Brew seen at all the vw shows .....Bellow are the photos.... I'm sorry they are not all in order but enjoy the photos of this unusual re trim .As you can see the denim look is the way this bus is going..... It's looking really cool .

Well here she is......looking better all ready ...some TLC was needed to Pumpkin.....we put some grey primer on the lower half of the bus, Tim will be doing some special paint work to her as the year goes on....

This is what we created for the double opening side doors.... the VW logo shows the mix of colours we used in the bus.....And you will see this when he is playing at the shows....

The samba sun roof was long since past its best.... so we made up a new fixed blue water Proof cover....LOOKING GREAT.

This is the flooring going down...we decided to use coir mating as this is very hard wearing and goes with the look of the bus....we had to make good a Lot of the flooring before the carpet could be put down....looking great.

Well here it is....The DENIM look.... I was trying to come up with some ideas with this bus to make her stand out and go with the blue look.... and I am very happy with the cool look....how many pockets can you count.....???/

sorry about the poor photo quality I was having problems with my camera....As you can see the other colours we are using....Mexican blankets from the USA with a blue main colour.... looks so good.... This also shows the custom made corner unit made by my mate Dan....

The completed van.... again sorry about the mix of photos.....camera problems and uploading problems.... i hope you all like the finished result....

All done and the paint / primer all on and looking great.......

THE RISING SUN....... yep that's me putting my arty bit to the bus.... Tim said feel free to do as we wished..... so i could not resist.....hope you like it Tim.....

A side shot showing the bus in all her glory......The wheels were very bad condition so we got some very special cleaning done...and as you can see they come up like new.

The rear cargo area....many hours of welding and repairs was needed to make the floor good before we could fit the marine ply then the coir fitted carpet to the rear.....

We was only doing the trim but we had to do something to the dash....so we made a custom cup holder for them many hours Tim is on the road.... note the lower shelf.... trimmed in matching denim......

As you can see a great place to sit and have some beers with the top opener to hand...and a wildly covered fire extinguisher love the little touches that make this bus so cool.... thanks Justin for this little extra.

Here you can see the rock and roll bed in its seating position.... with the rear cushions made in two part this is so Tim can carry stuff without removing the whole cushion, The boarder was also covered in denim to match the whole theme.....

I fitted some really cool night lighting///blue LEDS the work of a hidden switch in the rear of the bus.....also this looked great at night when he is playing at the shows.....

This is one of the rear quarter panels..... showing the pockets in denim that look really cool but also great for storage.....

Hope you can see this picture.... the sun was blazing in.... this is the full width rock and roll bed in the Mexican blanket...it look so good.....
This is the new floor cushion.... made from an Indian bed throw..... so Tim can sit in comfort and play for hours.......

A random picture showing the fitting of the rock and roll ply boards and the lighting going in......

Here is the front door card... i made the denim look in the cab area mostly  I love this look and its very easy to do... a good Charity shop to buy old jeans ...all clean and ready to cut up.....and the rest is up to you...

A closer shot of the door card we used some old travel case straps for the door pulls keeps in with the look...

This is the other double door showing the groups name.... DRUIDS BREW.... It look so cool.

Again sorry for the bad picture.... here you can see the inner head lining.... in a blue Celtic throw... made to fit the inner head lining area....

Love the badge on the front.......VW turned sideways.... now shows DB..... DRUIDS BREW... very cool.

All done and ready for Tim to pick up and enjoy Pumpkin....

The rear cargo floor area lined with grey lining carpet.... this matched all around the roof and window sides.....

With the doors shut you can see the inside look......

Funky fur...!!!!! i love this fabric and always wanted to use in a re trim..... this really looks cool.....well i think so and matches in with the front seats....

A close up photo showing the custom made cup holder and glasses holder, the dash had a big hole cut out so we had to come up with something to hide this.......

This was the bus just as i started
working on her....many hours of work left to go.....

Well here it is....the front seat all finished and fitted.... and ideas what car this seat was out of ????? it fitted so good it only needed minor adjustments to make it fit....A great ride height and very comfy seat....The denim and fur material look very 70s / 80s...remember the denim and white fur coats.....I had one...and this is were i got the denim look from....

I re used the bamboo blind that was in the bus but added some of my own touches..... can you make out the word on the blind..............

Attention to detail makes the finish look that extra.... once the inner roof panel was fittedIi glued over the screws some glass mirror shapes.......

A photo showing the full width rock and roll bed in its bed position... looks very comfy ........

Here you can see Pumpkin as she came to me.... in need of some over due TLC....

Were do I start...... rip it all out and start from an empty cab......... I really was looking forward to trimming this bus........

A view from the rear hatch through to the front....... mmmmmm i was looking for inspiration.

The old door cards..........all were good for was the bin.... but keeping the speakers for re use..........

The rising sun art work under way.... vw logo in the middle and the rays masked up......

Almost there...... the layers of colours going on.......

Well this is the last few photos.... I hope you all have liked the transformation which i did ti this bus.... keep a look out at the shows.... and if you see DRUIDS BREW there go over say hi and have a look

Thanks every one who helped with this job.... many hours of fun and hard work.......

VW Beetle In For Re Trim.....

Hello all... well a new season is upon us and here's a lovely vw beetle ....its all original and is in for a new interior... hope you like the upholstery.....any questions please just ask......

See what a lovely original beetle this is.... not many like this and used as a daily driver.

The old worn out interior ready for its make over.........

Just more pictures so you get the feel of the car.......

The old interior ready now to be striped down...............

All striped out ...looking naked....not for long......

Here you have most of the parts ready to be reused.... the door cards were so good we even managed to re use the with new coverings.

This is the rear seat all undone and laid out on the material ready to be marked and cut out.

The old front seat covers... i un picked one of the covers for templates,,, but keep the second just for reference...

The under side of the rear seat... almost as good as the day it left the factory.

The front also striped down.... WOW Ive never seen a beetle of this age in such  good condition .

T
he new material all cut and laid out ready to be sewn.......

The new covers next to the old.....i always double cheek to make sure all the sizes are correct before sewing.....

A close up shot showing the piping being sew to the main cover....

An even closer shot showing the special piping foot needed to sew this.........

As if by magic.... well not really.... many hours of sewing... and tea.

Here you can see the covering being fixed to the foam swab.... a special tool called a HOG RINGER is needed for this...

If all ok.... two fixings is all that is needed and a wire pull called sew to the under side to get the correct tension.

All done..... looks fab with the contrast piping.................

Looking into the vw beetle....... ready for the back to be fitted.

Here is the back....something special... the customer wanted the VW logo sewing into the back panel.... There wish is my command.

This shows the sewing of the detailing of the back...

There you have it .... well almost just the piping and out side back to go on.

There all done....that the easy bit,,,, now for the fitting, a good tip is to spray some silicon over the inside covering before fitting to the padding's as this helps it slide on easier.

All done..... looking good if i say so my self................

There we have it all done and ready to fit back in  the car.

This shows the rear seat being fitted to the frame.....a bit more work and it fit like a glove.........

This is the  back seat showing some more  embroidery ...this is the name of the beetle......... BERNY,,,,,,, ,cool.

Here you can see the rear seat section in place ready for the back..........

Door cards being re trimmed.... these were just plain with contrast edging piping and glove pockets in contrast material....nice,,,,,,

The rear quarter panels being covered.....

This is the front door card almost done... just making up new glove pockets.... using the old ones for templates....... works well.

A finished door card..........looks very nice plain with the contrast.

All done.......it looked great and the customer loved it......................

A great shot showing the detailing in the seats...........................

Very nice..............time for a well earned cuppa tea and a break before the next job....

There all done and washed and polished............... If you have any questions about my work or you need advice please contact me on : 07794978914.
